Making the most of your investment in our rural lands
When you make a gift to the Land Conservancy, you’re making a meaningful and long-lasting investment in Adams County’s rural lands and character. There are a couple things you can do to make your investment go even further:
1. Make your gift as part of the Adams County Community Foundation’s annual Giving Spree. Donations made during the Giving Spree qualify for matching funds that can add significantly to your gift.
2. Make gifts of stock or other appreciated securities, whether directly or through the Giving Spree. When you donate long-term appreciated securities like stock, bonds, or shares of mutual funds, you increase your gift when compared to selling those securities and contributing the after-tax proceeds. Plus you may qualify for a larger tax deduction.
3. Make a planned gift. One of the simplest and most impactful ways you can help preserve the rural lands and character you love is by naming the Land Conservancy in your will or estate plan. Whether you make a cash bequest, donate appreciated securities, or name the Land Conservancy as a beneficiary on your life insurance policy, IRA, Roth IRA, or other retirement plan, making a planned gift allows you to launch a meaningful legacy here in Adams County while meeting your estate-planning needs.
4. Make a donation out of your IRA’s annual required minimum distribution. If you’re 72 or older, you can make a gift directly to the Land Conservancy out of your traditional IRA’s annual required minimum distribution—enabling you to make a meaningful investment in preserving the beautiful woodlands, meadows, streams, and farmland you love here in Adams County while lowering your taxable income and incurring no income tax on your gift from your IRA.
We are deeply grateful for any investment you make through the Land Conservancy to protect the rural lands and character you love here in Adams County. If you have questions about how to deepen the impact of your gift, we invite you to drop us a line.
